FAQ
How far in advance should I book my session?
It's best to book your session a minimum of 2-4 weeks ahead of time. Dates often get booked up quickly so to ensure you get the time and date you want, it's good to plan ahead!
What should I wear for my photo shoot?
When deciding what to wear, it's good to choose colours that are complimentary to your skin tone. Always choose solid colours (no patters, fonts or logos) and try to avoid solid black and solid white if you can.
Should I do a studio or location session?
Studio and location sessions are very different and both have their advantages. Studio sessions are great for young babies, belly sessions and head shots. They are also a great alternative when it's too cold to go outdoors. The main advantages of a location session are that it offers more variety as well as more space for larger groups.
What kind of location should I choose?
Some locations work better than others depending on settings, the type of session you're having done, how busy the area is, as well as the time of day. If you know that a location setting is what you want but aren't sure where to go we can always help by suggesting locations that we know work well. If you have a location in mind, please let us know and we will ask for more details to make sure it is a suitable spot.
How long do the sessions normally take?
Our regular sessions take anywhere from 1 - 2 hours taking into account how many people there are as well as the age of any children. At Aviva Studios we like to take our time so that we can create images that truly reflect you and your family.
I have a brand new baby - what are newborn sessions like?
We like to photograph newborn babies within the first three weeks of their arrival as this is when they sleep the most and are the easiest to work with. We always keep our studio nice and warm so baby is comfortable and we take lots of breaks for feedings and diaper changes whenever it's needed! Baby sessions are never rushed.
How many images will I have to choose from?
The number of images you have to choose from depends on how many people are in the shoot. Normally a family of 4 will have approximately 30-40 images to view.
How can I see and order my images?
After your session is complete we book a viewing appointment for you to come and see your images. At that time we will guide you through the selection process and show you the different types of framing and presentation solutions that we have to offer.
How long does it take for the images to be ready for viewing?
It takes approximately 7 - 10 days before your images are ready to be viewed.
How long does it take to receive my order?
Orders usually take about 2 weeks to complete depending on what has been ordered. Some of our custom albums and frames can take as long as 3 - 4 weeks.
Can I purchase digital files of the images?
At Aviva Studios we don't sell our high resolution images. You can however purchase a selection of digital proofs (the equivalent to a 4x6 proof), of your session. These images are great to share with friends and family via email and facebook.
Where can I find more information about your pricing?
All you have to do is call or email us your request and we will be glad to send you our detailed pricing list.
